High-Speed LAN File Transfers

Unlike cloud storage solutions like Google Drive or Dropbox that upload files over slow internet connections, RideStream copies files over your local Wi-Fi router (LAN) at full hardware speeds (often 30–80 MB/s).

Step-by-Step: Downloading Server Content

  1. Connect your phone or tablet as a Receiver to your host PC.
  2. Tap any server playlist to view its track list.
  3. Tap Download for Offline 📥 at the top of the playlist, or tap the download icon next to individual video files.
  4. RideStream downloads the media chunks directly into local storage. Once complete, the content is saved to your local playlists.
💡 Seamless Fallback When you leave home and disconnect from your host PC's Wi-Fi network, RideStream automatically switches to playing your downloaded local copies with zero manual configuration!

🔧 Troubleshooting LAN File Transfers

❓ Where Are Downloaded Files Saved on Android?

Downloaded files are stored in RideStream's app-specific media directory: /Android/media/com.videoplay.ridestream/RideStreamDownloads/ or on your external SD Card if configured in Storage Settings.

❓ What Happens If Wi-Fi Disconnects During Download?

RideStream features resume-capable download chunking. If your Wi-Fi momentarily drops, the download automatically pauses and resumes from the exact byte offset when Wi-Fi reconnects.
